Dr. Raja Selvam

Dr. Raja Selvam is a licensed clinical psychologist from California, lead instructor in Dr. Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing (SE) professional trauma training programmes, and developer of Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP), a therapeutic approach based on current scientific paradigms of embodied cognition, emotion and behaviour in cognitive psychology and cognitive and affective neuroscience, as well as several Western and Eastern psychological, somatic, energetic and spiritual approaches. Dr Selvam has taught in more than twenty countries in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Far East. Dr Selvam worked with tsunami survivors and their therapists in India from 2005 to 2006 and with survivors of war, violence, loss and displacement in Sri Lanka and their therapists from 2012 to 2014 after the 30-year civil war there ended. Dr Selvam is the author of several scientific articles and a recent book, The practice of embodying emotions: A guide to improving cognitive, emotional and behavioural outcomes.

In the POLYVAGAL LAB you will find practice-oriented (online) seminars, workshops or presentations by experts in the field of Polyvagal-Theory. All events with experts from the Polyvagal Institute in the USA are offered in the original language with German simulator translation. These formats are intended to provide an educational and training resource for Polyvagal Theory and the application of its principles in a variety of settings, including health care, therapy, education and personal development. The content will range from topics related to the anatomy and physiology of the autonomic nervous system, to the connections between the nervous system and emotions, and the practical application of Polyvagal Theory in clinical and non-clinical settings.
